Chief guest Dr. Aneesudheen P.K, Assistant Professor of History, Govt.Victoria College Palakkad presented a talk on the topic" How to write a Dissertation". Principal Dr. C Saidalavi, History Dept.Head, Mr.Shabeermon, Faizal TK, Jaseena, Sandhya, Ramsheena etc spoke on the occasion.

Model parliament competition at unity

Model Parliament Competition organized by the  Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Kerala held at Korambayil Ahamed Haji Memorial Unity Women’s College, Manjeri  on 25th june 2019 at 2:30 PM at the college auditorium . The competition  judged by Mr. Purushothaman K, retired Joint Secretary, Kerala state Legislative Assembly and  RS Devadas retired Additional Secretary,  Kerala state  Legislative Assembly.

The highlights of the competition included oath, obituary reference, question hour, adjournment motion, calling attention and legislative business. Obituary reference expressed the demise of Sri.E.Ahamed(Late),who served as Minister of State for External Affairs. The opposition raised questions related to the issues and problems of contemporary state of India, which brought in the reality of the House . The exploding situation that have arisen due to the Nipah virus discussed in the adjournment motion. The social issues regarding drug abuse and air pollution called the attention of the government.  The legislative business put two bills into consideration related to the Economic Reservation Bill (Ministry of Finance) and Single Mother Welfare and Protection Bill (Ministry of Home Affairs).

On the whole, the competition  ended with a praiseworthy feedback from the reputable judges.

Intercollegiate History Fest

                                                      As part of the ENYO’19 (Intercollegiate History Fest) History Association 2018-19 of Korambayil Ahamed Haji Memorial Unity Women’s College Manjeri organized various events at Unity on Tuesday (06-03-2019). The Fest was inaugurated by Dr. P P Abdul Razak (Dean of Social Sciences, University of Calicut & Head, research Department of History, PSMO College Tirurangadi). College Manager Engineer O. Abdul Ali, Dr. Annie Ninan, History Head Mr. Shabeermon. M, Mr. Faizal Tk, Union chairperson Ameena Meetheen spoke on the occasion. After the inauguration, Elocution Competition was held in the auditorium, followed by Quiz Competition and Exypnos Competition. 48 students from various colleges had participated in all the competitions. In the Quiz Competition, PSMO College Tirurangadi, Malappuram Govt. College and Department of History, University of Calicut won first, second and third respectively. In the Elocution competition, Students from HM Arts and Science College Manjeri, Unity Women’s College Manjeri and Department of Malayalam, University of Calicut bagged first, second and third respectively. Exypnos event was won by the students from HM Arts and Science College Manjeri and Unity Women’s College Manjeri. Principal in charge Dr. Zakir Ahamed gave away the trophies, cash Prize and certificates for the winners.

Science Day Celebration at Unity

          As part of Science Fair organized by the PG Department of Chemistry, KAHM Unity Women’s College Manjeri, the Department of History Exhibited two stall at the College on 25 and 26^th February 2019. The History stall at Auditorium was organized under the Department of History, University of Calicut. The other stall was prepared by the students of the History Department, KAHM Unity Women’s College at room number 36. Along with this, a workshop on HOW TO SET UP A MUSEUM is also conducted under the leadership of Dr. P Sivadasan, Associate Professor of History, and University of Calicut. Dr. Sivadasan shared his experiences on research and archaeological excavations at different places. He also spoke about the steps that one need to take while setting up a Heritage Museum. Mr. Haridas, research Scholar, University of Calicut, and Department Head Mr.Shabeermon. M and Association secretary Seenath spoke on the occasion. Few research scholars from university of Calicut were also attended the programme. Staffs and Students from various schools from Manjeri municipality visited the college on the day.

International Seminar in honour of Dr PP Abdul Razak

History Association Inauguration 2018-19

The Association activities of the department of History for the year 2018-19 was inaugurated on 23rd January 2019 by Dr. Mahmood Kooria, a historian based at Leiden University, Netherlands. His talk on “Ocean’s Gender: Matrilineal Muslims of the Indian Ocean World” was an inspiration to the students  that was evident in the discussion held after the presentation. Principal Dr. Saidalavi, Dr. Haskerali.EC ,Assistant Professor of Malayalam, Sullamusslama college Areakode,, College Manager Abdul Ali, M. shabeermon, Head, dept of History, Mr. Faizal. TK,Assistant Professor of History etc spoke on the occasion.
