Why Study History

Today (17-02-2023 ), students from the department of history visited HMS Higher Secondary School Thurakkal with an aim to introduce the significance of History as an academic discipline. 5 students of the final Year BA History and program coordinator Jaseena Miss interacted with the Plus One Humanities students of the school.

State Level Media Seminar - Report

 STATE LEVEL SEMINAR ON CHANGING TRENDS IN MEDIA 

Media Club, KAHM Unity Women's College Manjeri and Manjeri Press Club jointly organized a One Day State Level Seminar on Changing Trends in Media. The programme included various sessions from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Seminar was inaugurated by Mr. N. Shamseer, Speaker, Kerala Legislative Assembly. College Management General Secretary Adv. U A Latheef MLA delivered the Presidential Address. Panakkad Sayyid Munavarali Shihab ThangaL,  President, Unity College Management Committee, gave the Keynote Address. Municipal Councilor Ms. V. M Subaidha and other respected personalities made their auspicious presence in the programme. 

The key sessions were handled by Mathrubhumi News Deputy Editor Mr Abhilash Mohanan, Media persons Mr. Ashraf Valoor and Santhosh Cristy. Mr. Abhilash Mohanan made his session in the topic “New Trends in Journalism” in which he discussed various new generation media and its pros and cons.  He also raised his concerns about the new generation’s tendency to follow everything and everyone in social media and how this might negatively influence the rational thinking of them. The session ended with an interaction students with the guest. They also raised their questions and doubts. The second session dealt by Mr. Ashraf Valoor was about the topic “Democracy and Media”. He discussed various media tendency to omit the idea of democracy and also how it is misrepresented or misused by media people. The third session by Mr. Santhosh Cristy was about how to be a journalist with mobile phones. He introduced certain photographic and videography tools to the students and to become a mobile journalist. The programme ended by honoring Senior journalists of Manjeri

 


Experiential Learning Trip

Second semester B. A History students of the Department visited the historical site Edakkal Caves and 900kandi Eco-park, Wayanad on 11th February 2023. Students experienced the habitat and stone age carvings of neolithic people and biological diversity of Wayanad.
