Kerala History Congress 2018

Fourth Annual Session

Executive committee of Kerala History Congress has decided to conduct its fourth Annual Congress from 20.12.2018 to 22.12.2018 under the aegis of Department of History, University of Kerala. We seek your whole-hearted support and active participation in the forthcoming event.
The annual session of the congress seeks to provide a common platform for teachers, research scholars and lovers of history to come together and share their research findings in different technical sessions as well as open forum. The programme of the congress session consists of invited talks, contributed papers, open forum, plenary sessions and exhibitions.
We are most gratified that the University of Kerala, Karyavattom Campus, which is one of the premier and pioneering academic institutions of Kerala has offered to host our fourth annual session. We hope that you and all other colleagues who will become members of the Kerala History Congress would be able to attend the session and contribute to its success. It gives us profound pleasure in extending you a most cordial invitation to participate in the proceedings of the Thiruvananthapuram session.

Objectives of the Congress

  • Promotion and encouragement of the scientific study of Kerala History;
  • Holding Congresses and publishing the Proceedings, Bulletins, Memoirs, Journals and other works;
  • Encouragement to Local history, Oral history, Family history etc;
  • The management and disposal of funds, property and endowments for the purposes stated above;
  • Performance of all other acts conducive to the fulfillment of the objectives o f the Congress;
  • Co-operation with other organizations in India and abroad holding similar objectives

The Sessions

Kerala History Congress is a professionalorganization of teachers and research students seeking the promotion of rational and secular history of Kerala. The annual sessions of the Kerala History Congress intent to provide platforms for discuss- ing and debating new researches and perspectives coming up in historical knowledge on Kerala. It envisages the sessions in such a way as to bring the budding scholars and erudite scholars on a common platform to offer immense possibilities of interaction and exchange of ideas between them.

Membership

Eligibility for membership of the Congress shall be limited to postgraduate History teachers of Universities, Colleges, Schools (either in service or retired) and research scholars of History who uphold the objectives of the Congress. However scholars who do not possess post graduation in history but have contributed to the historiography of Kerala can be given membership subject to the approval of the executive committee.

Types of Membership

  • Annual Membership - They shall pay an Admission Fee of Rs.200/- at the time of enrolment as a member, and an annual fee of Rs.250/-
  • Life Membership - Members paying Rs.2000/- shall become life members of the Congress.

Delegate Fee

Delegate fee of Rs 1500/- (Outstation Students and local participants have to pay Rs 750/- and the local students only Rs 300/-) and Annual Membership cum Admission fee Rs.450/Life Member Fee Rs. 2000 may be remitted as Demand Draft or Multicity Cheque (AC Payee) favouring Kerala History Congress payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Papers

As is done in previous years the papers conceived and presented well will be published in the Proceedings volume in the form of a book from the prestigious House of DC Books. To add more to that, selected papers are likely to be included in an edited volume that will be published by a premier international publishing firm.
You are requested to limit your typed paper to 12 pages with adequate referencing as end notes, in MS Word (Times New Roman, 12 pt, double spaced) and send the same to keralahistorycongress2018@gmail.com on or before 15th of December 2018
