Mahdari System-Ugc History

Mahdari System-Ugc History

Raja Ranjith singh of  Punjab adopted a regular system of monthly payment of salaries to the soldiers and officers  inorder to maintain an effective army. This system of pay calculated on a monthly basis is known as MAHDARI syatem.Fasalandari and Rosinadari  were the other forms of cash payments to the officials.Mahdari was the most popular in the sikh period. The Fasalandari system differed from the Mahdari system in so far as under it payment was calculated not on the basis of a calender ... This system remained in vogue so long as the Sikhs could not be changed over to the Mahdari system.
