  VARNASRAM DHARMA-ugc history

1.Varna   =is defined as occupation or order ,of which brahmana,kshatriya,vaishya and sudra occupies      the hierarchy.
2.Asrama   =refers to a devision of life.There are four division like grahastha,brahmacharya,sanyasa and vanaprastha.
3.Dharma  =it is meant to do with the discharge of one's prescribed duties
Varnasrama dharma   =is the discharge of one's prescribed duties according to occupation and order and division or the stage of life that one is in.

1-BRAHMIN                                1-these are individual with the drive and capabilities to pursue   intellectual pursuits like spread lords massage,conduct religious services.   They are the mode of goodness,piety,serenity,humility and immersion of god related to pursuit.
2-KSHATRIYA                              2-they are natural leaders and managers of society.they are mainly in the mode of passion.
3—VAISYAS                               3-they are individuals in the commercial and business world ,farming communities and generate wealth for  others  and themselves.they are also chiefly in the mode of passion.
4-SUDRAS                                  4-providing a wide range of services to others.they are in the mod eof ignorence.   
ASRAMA(DIVISION OF LIFE)                     DHARMA(ONE”S PRESCRIBED DUTIES)
1-BRAHMACHARYA (student- 0-25 years)            1-  here one who pursues knowledge in a motivated and enthusiastic manner.for them ,parents,teachers,lords,and guru are important source of knowledge.it is a time of life to build or prepare for other roles that eventually come their way.
2-GRIHASTHA (house holder-25-50)                      2-here members of society whose responsibility is to engage in honest,upright and truthful conduct.both partner should honor ,respect and make each other happy.children should be raised in a  god fearing manner.guests should be welcomed.
3-VANAPRASTHA(retired life-50-75)                    3-here one should spend time in reflection and contemplation.senses should be directed on spiritually liberating activities.daily worship and readign religious books are recommended.
4-SANYASI(renunciate phase-75-100)                    4-here one become fearless because they trust and have confidence in the supreme lord,that HE will liberate them from this material world.they are meant to be the pinnacle of humility and serenity.
                                                    The supreme lord (krishna or vishnu) is the architect of varnasrama dharma.in gita “catur varnagam maya srstam guna karma vibhagasah” (the four caste system was creates by me according to the modes of nature and the work associated with them).the supreme lord perceived varnasrama dharma as a avenue to transform animal consciousness in to human consciousness.
In short ,Hindus life operates within this system of different varnas and asramas.varnasrama dharma is the series of laws and customs related to each of these class and stages.the duties of a person performs are to be done in accordance with their social class and stages of life  .
