Battle of Waterloo

The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday 18 June 1815 near Waterloo in present-day Belgium, then part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands.

An Imperial French army under the command of Emperor Napoleon was defeated by combined armies of the Seventh Coalition, an Anglo-Allied army under the command of the Duke of Wellington(Arthur Weellesly) combined with a Prussian army under the command of Gebhard von Blücher.

Palakkadu fort is very famous and it has influenced the history of Kerala more than anything. The fort stands in the Palakkadu city itself.
This historical fort was built by the Mysore ruler Hyder Ali. The fort was built in 1776.

Thalassery Fort


Thalassery Fort
  It was the prominent fort of the British in Kerala. This fort is located at the City of Thalassery in Kannur district bordering the Arabian Sea. The fort is 200 years old and this square shaped fort is standing on 2.5 acres of land. The front door of this fort is built in arch shape, on the both sides of this door there are statues of sepoys which look like standing guard for the fort. The fort walls are 20 feet high and equally strong. Unusually, the fort gate of this fort is 10 feet above the ground and there are steps to reach there.

Even though the original name is St. Angelos fort, this fort is commonly known as Kannur Fort. This 500 year old fort is located about 8 KM’s from Kannur city. This fort was built by the Portuguese. This fort is in triangular shape. This fort is located beside the Arabian Sea. The construction of this fort started on 23rd October 1505. With the permission of “Kolathiri”, a Portuguese general called “Don Francisco-D-Almedi” started the construction of The Kannur fort.

Tutankhamun was born in about the 11th year of the Akhenten. He was named Tutankhaten, which means the living image of ‘Aten’. It is believed that he was the son of Amenhotep III and Akhenaten. In fact most scholars believe that Tutankhaten was the son of Akhenten and Kiya. As a boy he was brought up in the royal palace at Amarna. Tutankhaten was only about eight or nine years old when he ascended the throne. Tutankhaten married his own sister , Ankhsenpaaten, daughter of Nefertiti and Akhenatenas .

The Pre-Raphaelite Movement

The Raphaelites were a group of artists and men of letters who combined in the 1850’s to combat the existing conventions in art and literature.
They advocated a return to the art forms supposed to have existed in europe before the Italian artist Raphael.
The greatest exponent of this school of art and poetry was Dante Gabriel Rosetti,a poet and painter of distinction.In 1848 an association was formed by Rosetti in co-operation with two other painters,John Millais and Holman Hunt.
This association of like minded artists and poets came to be called the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

Muziris


Muziris
Muziris is an ancient sea port on the banks of the river Periyar on the Malabar Coast. The ancient name of this port was MuciriPattanam.
Muciri means, Cleft Palate and Pattanam means, city. In a flood of the river Periyar in 1341 CE, Muziris was destroyed and centre of commerce was shifted to other areas like Cochinand Calicut For long it was considered to be Kodungaloor

Baal
Baal is a Northwest Semitic title and honorific meaning "master" or "lord"  that is used for various gods who were patrons of cities in the Levant and Asia Minor, cognate to Akkadian Bēlu. A Baalist or Baalite means a worshipper of Baal.
"Baʿal" can refer to any god and even to human officials; in some texts it is used as a substitute for Hadad, a god of the rain, thunder, fertility and agriculture, and the lord of Heaven.
