Model Parliament Competition organized by the Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Kerala held at Korambayil Ahamed Haji Memorial Unity Women’s College, Manjeri on 25th june 2019 at 2:30 PM at the college auditorium . The competition judged by Mr. Purushothaman K, retired Joint Secretary, Kerala state Legislative Assembly and RS Devadas retired Additional Secretary, Kerala state Legislative Assembly.
The highlights of the competition included oath, obituary reference, question hour, adjournment motion, calling attention and legislative business. Obituary reference expressed the demise of Sri.E.Ahamed(Late),who served as Minister of State for External Affairs. The opposition raised questions related to the issues and problems of contemporary state of India, which brought in the reality of the House . The exploding situation that have arisen due to the Nipah virus discussed in the adjournment motion. The social issues regarding drug abuse and air pollution called the attention of the government. The legislative business put two bills into consideration related to the Economic Reservation Bill (Ministry of Finance) and Single Mother Welfare and Protection Bill (Ministry of Home Affairs).
On the whole, the competition ended with a praiseworthy feedback from the reputable judges.
