NSS World Aids Day 2016
With this year’s theme as “Hands up for HIV prevention”, NSS & NCC Units of K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College Manjeri observed World AIDS Day on Thursday 1st December 2016, conducting Blood Donation & Awareness Rally. In collaboration with Blood Bank of Government Medical College Manjeri, a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized at College auditorium wherein 93 students and staff members donated blood. Later in the evening NSS & NCC volunteers took out an awareness rally that aimed at bringing better awareness on the subject. Rally was flagged off by Sri. Biju, Sub inspector of Manjeri police station. Displaying banners and placards, the procession, led by NCC & NSS officers and unit secretaries, began from Pandikad road Bus stand to Government Medical College Manjeri. Dr. Sajjain of Govt. Medical College has shared few thoughts on the World Aids day Observation at the concluding session of the Rally.
NSS Children's Day Celebrations 2016
The National Service Scheme volunteers from K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College Manjeri celebrated Children's Day at Government L.P School Pulpatta on Monday 14th Novemeber 2016. Inaugurating the Children’s Day Celebrations, Sri. Abdussalam. k, Head Master , has called upon the NSS Volunteers and people to respect children’s rights and work for their all round development. He appreciated the National Service scheme for organizing the event at GLP school Pulpatta. Ward Member Ibrahim Cheladan, who presided over the function, gave a brief description on the measures and initiatives to be taken for the growth of Children. At the Inauguration ceremony Kavya, 3rd standard student delivered a fabulous short speech on the contribution of Nehru to the country. PTA & MTA Presidents, Union Chairperson Henna. K P, School Staff Secretary Jisha K V and NSS Programme officers of Unity College also spoke at the inauguration ceremony.
On reaching the School NSS Volunteers decorated the stage and a few class rooms with balloons. Sweets were also distributed at the opening ceremony. Volunteers interacted with the children, sang and danced with them thus making Children's Day a memorable occasion.Eight NSS Volunteers dressed up as the former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, known for his love for children, and entertained the gathering. Prizes were presented to the winners of several competitions for children especially Coloring competition, Singing competition and dancing competition.
NSS free Food Programme 2016
NSS Free Food programme at Govt. Medical College..........
Providing Free Food for the bystanders at Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital was a memorable experience to the NSS Volunteers. Bystanders of about 300 patients from the economically disadvantaged background manage to get free food donated by the NSS Units of K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College today. The Free food programme was organized with the support of C.H Centre Manjeri, a charitable voluntary organisation located at Manjeri. For the last 7 years, C H Centre has been providing free food to bystanders on a regular basis at night; thanks to the donations by philanthropist & Well-wishers. Addressing the NSS volunteers, Manjeri M.L.A, Advocate M.Ummar appreciated the NSS for providing the free food that was relevant to the needs of the poor. Former NSS Programme Officer Dr. V P Abdunasar, Staff Secretary Mr. Mohammadadli.P, NSS Po Jaseena. C and around 40 NSS volunteers were also present at the Programme. Definitely we should thank Kanniyan Mohamadali for his constant support to the programme.

NSS Organ Donation Campaign 2016
Pictures from the Organ Donation Campaign jointly organized by NSS & NCC units of K.A.H.M Unity Women's College today at College auditorium. Awareness speech on Organ donation was given by Mr. Ibrahim Lohi of Donner the Great Foundation. He said that Organ donation appears to be moving into a sphere of larger societal acceptance in Kerala irrespective of religion & region. Principal Dr. C Saidalavi, NCC Officer Dr. Meera Devi and NSS Programme Officer shabeermon have addressed the audience. Two NSS volunteers pledged to donate their organs.

The NSS units of the K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College Manjeri observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) today at seminar hall. On the occasion, Mr. Muhammedali. P, Assistant Professor in P G Department of English, delivered a thought-provoking speech on the Relevance & importance of Sardar Patel in Today’s India. While telling about the historical relevance of the day, Mohammedali said, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is also known as the Iron Man in the history of India, was a man of peace and a person with farsightedness. He not only struggled hard for the independence of the nation but also put forth great efforts for the national integration of India after Independence. That’s why we are celebrating his birth anniversary as National Unity Day”. He also pointed out the politics behind the introduction of National unity day. Of course it is important to understand & celebrate the role of Patel but that should not be observed by forgetting the contribution made by other leaders of Modern India; he said. In the elocution competition, conducted as a part of the celebration, Nishana of 3rd semester BSc Chemistry won the first prize. An Oath ceremony was also organized. Congrats to Fathima Parveen. U P ( First Semester Bsc CS) and Shaboom. O K (Third Semester B.com CA) for Winning the Third Runner up prize at the CANQRUSADE , Inter Collegiate Quiz Competition jointly organized by Pratheeksha (Organization for Cancer Patients) & NSS Malappuram district at Pain & Paliative Hall, Perintalmanna today. The aim of the competition, represented by 27 teams of various colleges, was to build awareness on Breast Cancer.

“Gandhi personally practiced what he sought to enforce on others; says Prof:Aswathy”
Gandhi was not only a freedom fighter but also a social reformist, a philosopher and above all a Phenomenon who himself practiced what he wished to see on others. She was speaking on the Gandhi Jayanthi Day observation organized by the NSS units of KAHM Unity Women’s College at Unity . As a legend of Modern India, Gandhi and his ideals will continue to inspire the generations. She also called upon the NSS volunteers to imbibe Gandhi's national and social spirit. After the speech, NSS screened a documentary on mahatma Gandhi which was enjoyed by the audience. Programme Officer Jaseena welcomed the audience and Kumari Fasira Thasni proposed the vote of thanks..

NSS Units of KAHM unity Women’s College observed the National Service Scheme Day on 24th September 2016. Principal Dr. C. Saidalavi delivered a thought provoking lecture on the topic “Challenges of the Contemporary Life”. He said that students will be more motivated to work if they know what goals they are working towards. He reminded the students on the need to involve in co-curricular activities such as fine arts, music and sports. Students should use technology properly which can pave way for the progress of the society and asked them to lead a disciplined life and develop a sense of responsibility. With an aim to introduce the Principles and programmes of NSS, an Orientation session was conducted to the newly inducted volunteers which was handled by Shabeermon. M. NSS Programme officer Jaseena .C welcomed the Gathering and Kumari Sara proposed the vote of thanks.

Legal Awareness Class for Second Year Students...
National Service Scheme Units of KAHM Unity Women’s College & District Legal service Authority jointly organized a ‘Legal Awareness’ session on 31st August, 2016 in the College auditorium. Aroud180 students have participated in this programme. Kumari Anusha (3rd semester B.com CA) welcomed the gathering. Advocate Preethi Sivaraman gave an interactive talk on various Laws especially Laws about woman atrocities, Anti-Ragging Act and Cyber Crime Law. She elaborated all the laws made for the protection of woman in the society along with elaborative examples. She motivated the participants to think about clean environment where woman is given respect and protection. Problems will not be solved just by making laws but by making people aware. She explained the students all consequences of ragging. Students have actively participated in the discussion held after her talk. Kumari Jumana (3rd Semester BSc Mathematics) proposed the vote of thanks
NSS Azadi-70 Celebrations 25 August 2016
In connection with Azadi-70 Celebrations, Patriotic song competition was orgaized by NSS in the Unity college auditorium on 25th August 2016. All the departments of Unity College participated in the programme. Botany Department won the First Prize followed by History and Mathematics. Vice Principal Dr. Salam presented the trophies to the winners.

Unity Family Celebrated Indian Independence Day...
The 70th Independence Day celebrations were organized by the NCC and NSS units of KAHM Unity Women's College Manjeri on 15th August 2016 in the college campus. NSS & NCC volunteers reached the college campus by 9:30 am. Principal Dr. C. Saidalavi hoisted the national flag at 9:45 am. Principal addressed the gathering about the tolerance and patriotism,and about the sacrifice of freedom fighters towards national integrity. College Manager O. Abdul Ali, NCC Officer Dr. Meera Devi, NSS Programme Officer Mis Jaseena. C have addressed the volunteers regarding the development of our nation. In the evaluation meeting of the NSS volunteers DR. Usman of Botany Department spoke about the responsibility of every individual in the development of the country. NSS volunteers participated in the various activities especially cleaning the campus toilets, organic farming and forming a human chain to form Indian Map. 2015 Bollywood movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan was screened in the AC seminar hall by the NCC unit.

NSS- Quit India Day 9August 2016
Quit India Day was observed at Unity Women's College Manjeri on 9th August 2016. A lecture on the significance of the Quit India Movement of 1942 was organised by the NSS units of the college. Ms.shahina mol, Head & Assistant Professor in English, delivered the lecture, highlighting the importance of the movement. Twinkle C Raju, kavya jose, Henna and Naseema have shared their thoughts on the importance of quit india day observation.
NSS_ campaign against Diphtheria- August 4, 2016
As a part of the campaign against Diphtheria, NSS units of KAHM unity Women’s College Manjeri & Community Medicine Dept. of Manjeri Medical College have organized an awareness class in the college Auditorium on 4th August 2016. The Class was led by Dr. Sairu Philip, Head, Department of Community Medicine, Manjeri Medical College. The focus of the class was to create a pro vaccine mindset among students and also to impart awareness regarding the need for immunization of children against various diseases. The class was arranged in two sessions. The second session was handled by Dr. Anitha who spoke about the significance of healthy eating habits. Principal Dr. C Saidalavi, Dr. PP Abdulla, Mr. Noushad. P and Mr. Faizal Tk have attended the programme.
NSS International day against drug abuse and illicite trafficking- June 26
Head of the department of Mathematics, Mr. Rof has said that the Girls students especially NSS Volunteers can do greater works against the use of drugs especially smocking cigarette . Each volunteer should formulate some ways to turn away youngsters from the use of smocking and alcahole. He was talking at a function organized by the NSS Units of KAHM Unity Women's College Manjeri at Seminar hall to observe international day against drug abuse and illicite trafficking on 27th june 2016. Mr. Rof said that smocking and use of drugs will hamper the growth of each family. As part of observing the day, anti drug pledges were taken. NSS secretary Ameena administered the Oath at the function. A short film was also presented.
National Service scheme -reading Day June 2016
"Reading is the base for growth and maturity" said Miss Vineetha R. she was speaking at the Reading Day Programme organized by the NSS Units of KAHM Unity Women's College Manjeri on 20th june 2016. Reading helps students to develop personality, emotional maturity and values. Reading news papers is the best way to improve our language. Reading can make us better human beings, she said. around 80 Nss volunteers attended the function.
