Rashtriya Ekta Diwas......
The NSS units of the K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College Manjeri observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) today at seminar hall. On the occasion, Mr. Muhammedali. P, Assistant Professor in P G Department of English, delivered a thought-provoking speech on the Relevance & importance of Sardar Patel in Today’s India. While telling about the historical relevance of the day, Mohammedali said, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is also known as the Iron Man in the history of India, was a man of peace and a person with farsightedness. He not only struggled hard for the independence of the nation but also put forth great efforts for the national integration of India after Independence. That’s why we are celebrating his birth anniversary as National Unity Day”. He also pointed out the politics behind the introduction of National unity day. Of course it is important to understand & celebrate the role of Patel but that should not be observed by forgetting the contribution made by other leaders of Modern India; he said. In the elocution competition, conducted as a part of the celebration, Nishana of 3rd semester BSc Chemistry won the first prize. An Oath ceremony was also organized. As many as 120 NSS volunteers took the oath of national unity.
