On December 16 and 17, 2023, 43 first year BA
History students from KAHM Unity Women's College, accompanied by three staff
members, embarked on an experiential learning trip to Vagamon, Idukky. The
purpose of this trip was to provide the students with a hands on understanding
of the environmental and historical significance of the region. During the visit, they explored
several notable sites in Wagamon, starting with the enchanting Pine Forest.
This lush green forest provided an ideal setting for the students to connect
with nature while immersing themselves in the environmental context of the
area. Students also visited Kurishu Mala, a hill known for its religious
significance. The students were fascinated by the ancient cross located at the
top of the hill, which served as a testament to the rich religious heritage of
Wagamon. Additionally, students had the opportunity to visit Thangal Para, a
revered Muslim shrine, and Mottakunnu, a scenic viewpoint offering breathtaking
views of the surrounding valleys. These visits not only deepened our students'
understanding of the region's environmental history but also provided them with
a chance to appreciate the diverse cultural fabric of Wagamon.
