Unity Women’s College Manjeri came in to existence in 1991, materialising the long cherished ambition of the public for an institution of Higher education for women in the backward area of Malappuram District. The Government of Kerala and University of Calicut accorded section to start the college, realizing the educational backwardness of the area, which is especially acute among Muslims and other backward communities.

This is the only arts, science and commerce women’s college in this backward district and the first college started without Pre-Degree course in the state. It is also enjoying the privilege of being the one and only women’s college of this kind run by Muslim community in Kerala. The college aims at the upliftment of women in general and Muslim women in particular who are socially and educationally backward.

At present there are 800 students on the rolls. There are 30 members in the teaching department and 26 in the non-teaching staff. All the faculty members are UGC qualified and most of the have either Ph.D or M.Phil. Within a short span of time this college is identified as a center of academic excellence by producing good academic results and high passes percentage in the university examinations
