*Talk on ‘History and Monument: Remembering the Malabar struggle of 1921’*

To commemorate the 78th Independence Day, the NCC Army Wing, in association with the History Department, organized a talk on ‘History and Monument: Remembering the Malabar Struggle of 1921’ on 14 August 2024, at the AC Seminar Hall.
The aim of the program was to educate students about the significance of the Malabar struggle and its contribution to India's independence. The objective was to create awareness about the historical events and monuments related to the struggle.
The program began with a welcome speech by Lt. Loosiya KP, Associate NCC Officer, who emphasized the importance of the talk. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur delivered the inaugural address, highlighting the independence struggle and the role of freedom fighters from the Malabar area.
The resource person, Mr. Shabeermon M (Assistant Professor and Head, Dept. of History), presented a comprehensive account of the Malabar struggle of 1921, its causes, and significant monuments. He also shared the contributions of notable freedom fighters like Variyankunnath Kunjahammad Haji and Ali Musliyar, and showcased movie scenes and songs related to the struggle.
The program witnessed active participation from 109 students, including second and third year NCC cadets and fifth semester BA History students. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by UO Afeela Sharin KP (V Sem BSc CS) and was anchored by SGT Nadha (V Sem BSc CS).
