"Women's Empowerment Takes Center Stage at LeadHership Campaign"
The second phase of the "LeadHership Campaign," a joint initiative by Mathrubhumi and Malabar Gold and Diamonds, concluded at KAHM Unity Women's College, Manjeri, on Wednesday, 29th January 2025. The event, focused on empowering women and addressing their challenges, featured a panel discussion titled "HerStory Unfolds," where four successful women shared their inspiring journeys of overcoming obstacles.
District Collector V.R. Vinod inaugurated the programme, emphasizing that while women have made significant strides, true empowerment remains an ongoing process. He cited influential female leaders and stressed the need for greater representation in decision-making and economic spheres.
The panel discussion highlighted key themes, including the importance of risk-taking in business, the evolving landscape of women's education, the power of self-belief in overcoming marginalisation, and the need to challenge patriarchal societal norms. Panelists shared personal experiences, emphasizing resilience and determination.
Other dignitaries present included Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur (Principal, Unity Women's College), Engineer O. Abdul Ali (Manager, Unity College), M.S. Neetha (Malabar Gold & Diamonds), Inam Rahman (Madhyamam Daily), and K. Fida (Chairperson, College Union). S. Anitha (Madhyamam Senior Sub Editor) welcomed the gathering, and Fatima Thasni, final year BA History student, rendered the vote of thanks.
The event, conducted with the support of Media Club and Debate Club, KAHM Unity Women's College, underscored the growing support from families, society, and the media for women pursuing education and leadership roles. The campaign aims to inspire and equip women to become leaders in their communities and beyond.
