 *Online Workshop – Understanding Food History*


The Department of History, KAHM Unity Women's College, Manjeri, in association with the UG Board of Studies in History, University of Calicut, successfully conducted an online workshop titled Understanding Food History on 4 January 2025. The workshop aimed at familiarising college teachers with the second semester Minor Course in the *History of Indian Food Culture* (CUFYUGP). The event began with the welcome speech by Faizal TK, Assistant Professor of History, followed by the inaugural address by Prof. (Dr.) Muhammad Basheer Ummathur, Principal, Unity Women's College Manjeri The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Laina P, Member, UG Board of Studies & Associate Professor Providence Women's College, Kozhikode, who shared valuable insights into the significance of food history as an academic discipline. Shabeermon M, Assistant Professor, Unity Women's College, presented the core aspects of the minor course, emphasizing the importance of the Indian food culture in historical studies. The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks by the Coordinator of the programme, Jaseena C, Assistant Professor of History.
