*Experiential Learning Visit to Wayanad*
Department of History, K.A.H.M. Unity Women's College, Manjeri, organized an experiential learning visit to Wayanad on October 27, 2024, involving 55 first-semester BA History students and two staff. The trip included visits to notable sites such as Lakkidi View Point, Karappuzha Dam, Edakkal Cave, and Banasura Dam, chosen for their historical and cultural significance. The visit to Edakkal Cave, a prominent megalithic site (6000 BC - 1700 BC) discussed in the first semester Kerala History course of FYUGP , provided students with a unique opportunity to explore ancient petroglyphs, ritualistic practices, and architectural innovations. This experience offered a profound glimpse into prehistoric life and cultural heritage. The day concluded with a mental health awareness session led by Dr. Jamshad from Apollo Hospital. This session, conducted in collaboration with the Sanjeevani Project—an initiative by the Government of Kerala—aimed to promote mental and physical wellbeing of students through vegetable cultivation.
