 Revision of Emoluments for University Grants Commission Junior
Research Fellow (JRF)/Senior Research Fellow (SRF) candidates who
qualify NET/UGC –CSIR only has been decided upon by the (Selection
&Awards Bureau), University Grants Commission, New Delhi – 1 vide
its Letter No.F.No.19-1/2002 (SA-I) /Policy) dated 27 December 2010
which is appended.
 The contents of the above Circular shall be brought to the
notice of all concerned.

Sir,
  
 The University Grants Commission has decided to revise the fellowship to the
candidates those who are qualify NET/UGC-CSIR JRF only vide its MHRD letter No.F.5-
4/2005-U(A)Pt. dated 12

for remaining Three years.
 There is no change in the amount of Contingency & Departmental Assistance.
Further, the MHRD has communicated the service conditions as under:-
1)  DA and CCA:  JRF’s, SRF’s and Research Associates (only Foreign Nationals)
will not be entitled to these allowances
2)  House Rent Allowance (HRA):  All research fellows may be provided hostel
accommodation wherever available and those residing in accommodation
provided by the Institute will not be eligible for drawing HRA.   Wherever,
provision of hostel accommodation is not possible,   HRA may be allowed to all
the above categories viz. JRF and SRF as per Central Government norms
applicable in the city/location where they are working.   The fellowship amount
may be taken as basic for calculating the HRA.   It is also stated that the hostel
fees will be reimburse as per the existing guidelines.
3)  Bonus & Leave Travel Concession:  JRFs and SRFs will not be entitled to
these allowance.
4)  Retirement Benefits:  JRFs and SRFs will not be entitled to these benefits.
5)  Publication/Payment:  The results of  JRF/SRF  research work may be
published in standard referred journals at the discretion  of the Fellow or his
Guide.  It should be ensured by the fellow that the assistance provided by the
funding agency of Government of India is acknowledged in all such publications.
P.T.O. 6)  Encouragement for pursuing higher degree:  Students selected as JRF/SRF
may be encouraged to register for higher degrees and the tuition fees to
undertake these studies may be reimbursed to the student from the contingency
grant sanctioned under the project grant, if required.
7)  Obligation  of  JRF/SRF:   (A)   He/She shall be governed by the disciplinary
regulations of the host Institute where he/she is working.
(B)   The JRF/SRF must send a detailed  consolidated  report of the research
work done during the entire period of Fellowship on completion of the
tenure/resignation of the Fellowship at the earliest.
8)  Date of Effect:   The  revision in emoluments come into effect from 01.04.2010
for all categories of JRF/SRF
9)  This issue with the approval of the Ministry of Finance, Department of
Expenditure ID No.810796/JS(Per)/2010 dated 26.08.2010.
10)  ‘All the Universities are requested to intimate their affiliated Colleges.’
